Not allowed to take their pets with them, residents left nearly 50, 000 dogs and cats stranded in this waterlogged city; those not killed by flooding, lacking adequate food and a clean water, face a nearly certain death. This moving and often hard-to-watch documentary chronicles the heroic teams of volunteers that scour the ruins of New Orleans--battering down doors and risking their lives--to rescue nearly 10, 000 animals.
